Story behind the song
This song is about my take on the state of the world right now.. with a little hint of some "Grimy Streets" revisited.
Lyrics
Well these streets have gotten gritty and it sure don't look too Pretty ain't no-body got a dime, so they can't spend any time... time with you castaway-ed on an island can't nobody seem to find him but the truth is that she knows, and she knows... that he goes... goes away paint your face on just to greet them and when you turn say nice to meet them but the truth is that the clown smiles up-side-down if he ain't paid but I ...but I ...but I ain't letting these grimy streets get me down ain't letting these grimy streets get me down oh-no ain't letting these grimy streets get me down ain't letting these grimy streets get me down Well there's a man on the corner he's standing there beggin for your change but he's better off in the desert dancin for rain because you ain't gettin blood from a stone and a don't bother knockin' cause nobody's home 'cause we're all out trying to get our 9 to 5 but needin 24-7... just to survive and a... times are hard and even harder on me I'm livin ... single parent(in da)hood times 3 and there's ... too many children with no daddy's home and too many momma's working hours too long and a too many starvin mouths living on streets and a and a too many youth that's lackin parental needs so who's gonna stand up start linkin the chain?? and get your fist... in the air... shout "I'm ready for change!" or you just gonna sit there... b*** and complain? and a ...keep pointing fingers as you're placing the blame. well you better stand back and take a look in the mirror... because the face that's lookin back at you's the one you should fear because you ... say you're present... but you're not really here and a dont have to listen ...but tell me dear ... do you hear me? oh baby do you feel me? is there anyway you can heal me? it's got me singing these ANTHEM blues. do you hear me? oh baby do you feel me? is there anyway you can heal me? it's got me singing these ANTHEM blues. ain't letting these grimy streets get me down ain't letting these grimy streets get me down ain't letting these grimy streets get me down ain't letting these grimy streets get me down Well honey baby tell me have you took a look at the world today? and tell me doesn't just make you wanna hang your head in shame? well baby I aint got the answer I dont know honey what we should do... but give me freedom ... for me and you ain't letting these grimy streets get me down ain't letting these grimy streets get me down ain't letting these grimy streets get me down ain't letting these grimy streets get me down
