A song about a mother's love for her baby boy.
music country rockabilly comedy oldies
Just myself singing my own songs. because I couldn't get anyone else to sing them
I have been writing songs since 1965. Some of my material has been used in several movies, one of which won the Sundance award in 1998. I like writing and doding demos better than doing live shows

Story behind the song
My wife was very sad when our baby boy went to school his first day. We talked a little about it and the end result is this song. (PS - Some mothers won't listen to this because they say it reminds them of their baby boy and his first day at school.)
Lyrics
Momma’s Little Boy He walked down to the bus stop, he’d become a little man And mommy was right there with him, holding to his little hand Tears came into her eyes as he went to school his first day And when she came back to the house, this I heard her say Now Lord my little boy he’s growing up so fast It won’t be long till he’ll be gone and I’ll be alone at last Oh God won’t you protect him and help him on his way It won’t be long till he’ll be going away from home to stay Her mornings are filled with house, work but when that’s all done She sits patiently waiting, for the return of her son Although he’s just at school, that’s the first step on his own Mommy knows it won’t be long, till he’ll be leaving home Then her mind fills up with memories, of when he was a little boy Of all the silly things he did and how he filled her heart with joy Mommy I’ll never leave you, she had often heard him say With tears in her eyes, she kneels down, and then begins to pray Now Lord my little boy he’s growing up so fast It won’t be long till he’ll be gone and I’ll be alone at last Oh God won’t you protect him and help him on his way For it won’t be long till he’ll be going away from home to stay
