Story behind the song
Mark Armstrong - Lead Vocal and Rhythm Guitar
Mark was born and raised in Newfield, New York, and now presides with his wife Jackie in Lansing, New York where they raised three awesome sons, Nicholas, Matthew and Adam. Mark's day job is a Registered Nurse at Cayuga Medical Center.
Mark started his musical career at the age of 14 learning to play guitar on his own on a guitar purchased at JC Penny for $30. Eventually he sold that guitar to a friend, and 35 years later, who would have thought that the exact same guitar would appear in a pawn shop window that Mark passed every day on his way to work. His sons got wind of it and purchased the guitar as a Christmas present for their Dad in 2006, and it is proudly displayed on the wall in his home.
In 1979 he helped form the top 40/rock band Free Wheeling. Later on he joined the classic rock band Phineus Gage. Once Mark and Jackie started a family, Mark ended up taking a 10-year haitis. He returned to the classic rock scene and joined the band "Scuttlebutt".
Around 2006 Mark went in search of musicians that were interested in playing southern rock, by the summer of 2007, the band "Iron Horse" was formed and spent months practicing twice a week in Steve's studio.
Mark's wife Jackie has been an avid groupie of Mark's bands since high school and continues to be Mark's 1 Fan. "I'm so glad he decided to pursue this venue because it seems to be very well received by people in our age group – not too hard and not too soft. People our age should have the opportunity to go out and dance and have a good time, just like the younger crowd, and Mark and the guys are providing that venue for us!"
"Playing southern rock has always been a dream of mine" states Mark, "and I am thrilled that I was able to put together a band with such talented, dedicated and passionate musicians such as Dave, Ron and Steve. We hope the public enjoys the music as much as we enjoy performing it. I want to thank my wonderful wife and kids for supporting me over the years. I love you very much.
