A Message From Donna

Simplistic, house-style tune but with a 'half-time feel' kick drum instead of 'four-on-the-floor' and a topline consisting of swelling organ (fnarr) and a voicemail message. Just what is Donna saying?
progressive experimental guitar based rock
Artist picture
Mainly guitar-based rock. Perhaps some more experimental instrumentation depending on whether it benefits the song or not.
This is an offshoot of various other musical projects and includes songs with a more personal level of content. The music here was recorded in varying circumstances and over quite a long period of time.

Story behind the song
Bumped into Donna and her mate (the big 'un from Wigan) in Crawley's Ye Olde Punch Bowl (a nice traditional country tavern..... yeah, right) whilst out with my drinking buddies, Richard Pannell and Tony Newman. Richard was smitten with Donna, but he got nowhere with her and Tony was brave enough to try to get round the large lass, but all he got was the nickname of "Great White Hunter" (well, she was pretty huge). Later Richard and I crashed out at his place and found a message from Donna waiting on the house phone. I was so taken with it that the next morning I recorded it down onto my tape machine. I eventually combined it with a backing track I'd had laying around that I assembled up from an old 45-second sample of Michael Glover (mixed electric and acoustic drums) and me (electric bass) jamming a groove. Ironically, after spending ages building up a six-minute track I ended up editing it down to less than half that.
