Glen Heffner is a keyboardist/composer who specializes in instrumental music based around melody/counter melody and rhythmic counterpoint. All instruments are
Music... My entire life, music has been the "driving force" in everything that I've done. I started taking piano lessons at the age of 6, played in bands all through high school, graduated with a degree in piano from college, and all the while learned as much as I could about the recording studio by working as a session musician and learning the art of recording. To me, music can be visualized by colors. Every sound that you hear has a particular color attached to it and likewise, so does every emotion. That's what I'm attempting to capture in my music. I want to take emotions that are a part of one's natural life and "paint" a picture into my musical landscapes. Before I write a song, I name it. That name is a "hint" as to what I was thinking of. Then the sounds that I used, the melody, the counter-melodies, rhythms, etc. are all part of the final scene. I hope you enjoy my attempts at capturing an emotion for a moment in time....

Story behind the song
A number of years ago, for about 6 months I continuously had a horrible nightmare each night that would not quit. It was actually shaking me up so much that I started going to bed later and later, sometimes as late as 3 or 4 AM in the morning. Anyway, my wife kept telling me that I needed to "find a new place". I remember falling asleep that night and instead of my usual horrible nightmare, I had a completely wonderful dream as if I was indeed in a different place... I didn’t remember much but I was thrilled not to suffer the usual… It was like I had been given a reprieve from something. The next morning I was absolutely troubled the whole day wondering what would happen that night. Again and again for about 2 weeks, slightly different dreams took place and the bad dreams never came back. I remember feeling so good, so rested. I would just smile and jump out of bed! One morning at 4:30 am, I just opened my eyes, thought for a few minutes about what I was “seeing” in these comforting dreams. I hopped out of bed and made my way down into my studio, started the 16 track tape recorder and wrote "Dreams" in less than 30 minutes. You might notice that the ending has some strange notes coming up from the guitar. That was me wanting to leave a bit of "uncertainty" about what was next. Would the nightmares return??? Thanks to two of "The Rumblers", Tim Berry for his fine guitar work and Chris Robinette for his Lead Vocals that were put down quickly and with his unique tone. All three of us grabbed headphones and laid down background vocals in the Control Room and we never brought the bass player or the drummer in to do the complete song... Still, it is a Rumblers song that I wrote for my band "The Rumblers" and I think that I am going to put up some of our complete songs depending upon how this one goes. Thanks, -glen heffner
Lyrics
Every time I sleep, all I do is Dream I wake up in a world, where everything's serene I gaze out through the mist, Under a Satin Sky And deep into my Dream, I see you drifting by We don't talk, we just walk Hand in hand, our minds understand It's a very special place, where no one else can go A magic glowing fire, burning with desire Dream, I don't ever want it to ever end Because reality means nothing to me This place is my friend In here, there's nothing to fear No sadness, greed, or shame, This place is my domain No hustle, bustle streets And no one to print the news 'bout hungry, aching souls Down endless avenues Dreams, I don't ever it to ever end Because reality means nothing to me This place is my friend... This world, is my castle is in the air MY Illusion, of hypnotic confusion A place where I am free For all eternity A Dream inside a Dream this one is just for me........
