Story behind the song
This piece was inspired by a poem entitled "7 Stars by Verbal High of Black Elephant. "7 Stars" is about a man that meets a woman with 7 children, and it seems no matter what he does for her she would not love him. Driven to desperation for her attention and lack of love for him, he ends up leaving her. "7 Stars" was so profound and haunting that I was inspired to write a piece from the viewpoint of the woman. "7 Tears" is her story.
Lyrics
Six transparent rubies slip silently down my face And as the seventh falls My pain is perfected Crystallized in the form of 7 stars in the bleeding palm of my hand The remainder of the soul you left me with The day you stepped off the edge of the Earth Taking the shine of the sun with you Leaving me with these seven tears Seven stars Orbiting the lonely nexus of my night skies You said that I didn't love you Even as I harvested a seventh seed from the depths of my ruptured womb Splitting myself open Again And Again And Again Giving birth to the seeds of your love How could I cry? When the rivers of my soul had long ago run dry Seven men have drank from the fountains of my femininity Each one swimming for the shores of my distant soul Lost in the intoxicating black seas of despair Drowning inside my sphere Ringed with the stars of my love Hung in the brilliant firmament of the heavens Blazing brightly to illuminate the hopelessness Where I glide through the days and nights Living for the love of my 7 stars That once filled my belly with their burning light Creations of 7 men who have planted their flags upon my back Attempting to claim what could never be theirs Hoping for the rise of smile In the midst of my solar showers My moon could not ascend without the setting of your sun My world is as illusive as the love you seek from me Just out of reach Slipping slowly through your fingers Like the seven shooting stars your righteous illumination Sent ricocheting across my heart Blessing my wind blown dreams with the guiding light of your love My seven stars streaking away from me as the solstice breaks the heavens Allowing them to arise from your fingertips Glowing with celestial light Leaving me wistful on the shores of my distant soul Where the rays of your sun warmed my face Yet failed to penetrate the cold shadows of my heart My love stopped with those seven stars now entrapped in the crystal of my tears I had nothing left to give I couldn't love you I couldn't love you I COULD NOT LOVE YOU! In my world love is an oxymoron No definition to be found in a dictionary Six transparent rubies slip silently down my face And as the seventh falls My pain is perfected...
