5-piece indie/alternative band from the heart of Florida. A musical gumbo, rockin with gas.
Red Velvet Stereo is a guitar driven, progressive indie rock band hailing from the heart of Florida. With lyrics that are often poignant, sometimes disturbed, but always heartfelt and intense, they are changing the face of the Florida music scene. Image takes a back seat to the music and the intensity of this incredible band. Their live shows have been likened to a certain battery company's bunny on ephedra. The foundation of the band is the rock-solid rhythm section of Phillip Cannoy (drums) and Justin Stirk (bass.) Justin also provides backing vocals, having previously fronted bands in both Florida & Indiana. The guitar tandem of Charlie Wells and Joe Setney is simply incredible. Both provide backing vocals, and with Joe's searing leads and Charlie's "Nils Lofgren-esque" flange-saturated tones, they provide RVS's trademark sound, and a wall of sound it is. Speaking of walls, the mountain of a vocalist, Skip Fleming, is a veteran of the music industry like few in the area. Having played in bands and venues up & down the east coast, he's a seasoned performer and musician that also contributes acoustic guitar and harp. His lyrics and passionate vocal style bring the RVS sound together. A sound so diversely influenced, it has become affectionately known as "Mutt Rock."
