Story behind the song
This is a demo track I recorded to initially present the tune to the rest of the band. It wasn't ever used for either live sets or any of the albums. Still, I always liked the lyric... so here it is!
Lyrics
Streets are all empty, A cold gust of wind chills the dawn. Silence is broken, At sunrise the rat-race is on. Rush hour, And faces go by in anonymous gray. Crowds on the street, Walking close, yet have nothing to say. Chorus: Street Life's going nowhere And gettin' there fast. Searchin' for love any love that will last. Selling your soul, for fortune 'n fame. Headed for Hell in the fast lane... Street Life Street Life Street Life Street Life Working 'till dusk Where's the spark of the victory won? Where is the thrill You once felt when the work had begun? Can there be more To a Life that has run in it's course? Is there a hope, Or a chance that there is something more? repeat Chorus But Jesus is Hope! He's the Truth, He's the Light of our Way! Leading and Guiding each step, Every night every day. And no one may come, Before God's Holy might, but one way. When Jesus has cleaned us And only 'till then will we say.... repeat Chorus Street Life... Don't want Street Life...
