Story behind the song

I was sitting around the house one afternoon on a rainy summer afternoon.  I was bummed that there was nothing to do so I began writing a song about my feelings.

Lyrics

I just can’t stand those rainy summer days when the sun is gone and the clouds are in its way.  You’ll find me here just lying on my bed I’m just hoping, just hoping that soon it will all be gone and I’ll wake up from the morning sun and know that today’s a good day, today is a good day.

I tried my friends but nobody’s at home.  They must be gone having fun on their own. And I guess I’ll find something more to do just like hoping, just hoping.  And soon it will all be gone and I’ll wake up from the morning sun and know that today’s a good day, today is a good day.

So there she was just sitting all alone in her front yard throwing rocks at the road and I guess I’ll go ask for her name.  I’ll buy her something great with the money I’ve saved. And I’ll ask her to be my girlfriend and we’ll stay up late, go on dates and then I’ll know that today was a good day, today was a good day.
