An amateur Songwriter/Musician a work in progress
I've played in a few cover bands, started off playing lead guitar ended up playing bass, drums and even keyboards a few times and although it was fun never had any great success. I'm now more of an amateur song writer and trying very hard to come up with some songs that might impress someone enough to want to record them.

Story behind the song
An observation of walking through town centre on a busy weekend. Mr Daryl P Hall had the lyric and I had this idea for a piano based tune. Funnily though, I came up with the basic riff on guitar first and then tried to duplicate that on the piano. That was not an easy task as my keyboard skills are poor at best lol, many takes, many, many takes to get it right. I also made heavy use of harmony and pitch effects from a ZOOM pedal to add a little intro solo and fills. Also added a bridge and had to come up with some lyrics of my own trying to keep to Daryl's theme. When all was finished I wasn't so sure I liked what I had done musically but it was one of those tunes that grows on you.
Lyrics
Bright Lights - Daryl P Hall, Steve Salterszo ©2012 Verse 1 Walking down the pavement On a city street at night. Hear the sirens in the distance As the criminals take flight All at once you see the blue lights Come flashing into view Another bright light shining in the city But the spotlight's not on you Chorus Bright lights, burning in this city Bright lights, the signs are everywhere Bright lights, shining cross the city See the bright lights pierce the air Bright lights, Big City Verse 2 The neon signs all call for you And your tongue to taste delights With Jaeger bombs designed to elevate All your senses to new heights In a state induced by chemicals You hear the sounds, you see the sights And once again you find you've been Seduced by those bright lights b. See the lights shine, Shadows kept in line No fear in the darkness Light up your way, Till the break of day Bright Lights keep their promise Until they fade away Verse 3 You can feel the tension all around As your eyes behold the sights Young girls dressed up like killers In high heels, short skirts, sheer tights You long to take them home with you How you long for their invites But at 2 -c clock as the music ends No one looks the same in bright lights
