Inspired by riding on the Manly Ferry in Sydney, Australia
The wind whips the ferry as it passes by the heads
With its cargo of commuters and tourists and kids - and mums and dads
Its a fine day on the harbour
The seagulls wheel and cry
And everyone is sailing away into the blue
That perfect blue Sydney sky
Its a long way from London Its a long way from Rome
And its far from California, but its where I live. I call it home
Im not a native son
So very few can make that claim
I came here on a whim just as I am
With a simple plan
To sink or swim
Lalalalala
If Europe is a diamond. If Asia is a pearl
If the worlds a box of jewels, which would you save? Which would you sell?
Ive travelled round the world
Its such a pleasure to explore
But theres one destination that always leaves me wanting more
My front door
And theres one thing I should tell you before I let you go
You can always be mistaken about everything you think you know
Were all in this storm together. Were all searching for dry land
So if you see someone thats drowning
Dont sail by
Throw out a line
And lend a hand
Lalalalala
The swell lifts the ferry as it slices by the heads
With its cargo of commuters - and kids and all the rest
Its a fine day on the harbour
The seagulls wheel and cry
And everyone is sailing away into the blue
That perfect blue Sydney sky
