Rickenbacker bass, Ric-O-Sound
davidabriggs
Hi, I'm lucky enough to own a Ricky 4003 bass. I've owned it for quite a number of years now and until only few days ago had never experimented with the Ric-O-Sound. As some of you might be aware, there are 2, 1/4" jack in-puts on these guitars. The top- most of them offers the said feature. You need to plug in a stereo cable with a stereo jack on one end and 2 mono jacks on the other This allows the out-put from each pick-up to be processed separately. The bridge pick-up can go through a guitar amp with a touch of distortion and the neck pick-up can be processed to be, well ... bassy. Play away with the selector switch set for both pic-ups... wow. I've tried this and, Hey Presto, instant Geddy Lee or Chris Squire sounds. I haven't used it on any of my home recordings yet...but watch this space... By the way, it doesn't work to just plug 2 separate cables into each jack in-put on the guitar. ...Rickenbacker 4003, a bass that owners of them, both love and hate in equal measure. Well, you try adjusting the intonation on one of these, that stiil has the original Rickenbacker issue bridge on it...ha ha... I did, but it took a long time...much longer than it ever should do. Try the 'simple' job of removing the bridge cover plate ... Ah well, I'll never sell it, I love it far too much.

yes, I have one and I do love it.
luck enough to have a stereo lead guitar as well. Same trick, use a single stereo jack plug in the ricko-sound guitar output with two mono leads and two amp channels or separate amps.
